won't save file to Documents when default location is moved

description

x64 Vista Ultimate. Documents location is F:\docs, moved and established thru Vista GUI. WLWBackup recognizes this location but will not actually save the file there. It goes through the process of saving the file and thinks it is successful, but no actual file is written. If I change the save destination to something like F:\transfer, then it indeed writes the file. Does not matter if I run as administrator or not. Won't save to the moved documents folder as far as I can tell. (the file written to F:\transfer was good and I used it to restore on W7 machines). Well, it's great progress to see it work on x64 Scott, so thanks much!

Interesting, on both machines that have been used to develop this, my documents folder is on G: on one machine, and D: on the other, and both save just fine. After you have tried to create the backup, have you tried doing the same thing and calling it the same name as a previous attempt?

I change the name, but even if it was the same, wouldn't I see a prompt to overwrite?

Yeah, that's what I was seeing, whether you got the prompt, I'm guessing you didn't? I'm going to issue an update soon that will have some more debugging code in, hopefully it will find what's going on. But it's certainly strange behaviour, and not something I'm seeing here on either Vista or Win7.

I tried backing up with livewriter open or closed. It asks for the save directory, and I name the file, but nothing saves there.
