Backup to F: doesn't change anything. Only Admin privileges help. I even tried to write into the same directory where the log file is written, which obviously is accessible, since otherwise the log file couldn't be written. But even there I get the same error, described above.

Commented Issue: Backup fails without error when file accessed failed. This was a new computer and I was trying to import the settings from another copmuter before starting up LiveWriter. This was the reason WLWBakup was throwing the error. Once I opened WLW and configured a blog then tehre was some XAML for WLW Backup to read. So the problem is that WLW's settings file didn't exist.

hth

julie

Commented Issue: Does not work in Windows 7 RC [3707]

I've tried to execute wlwbackup as administrator and using compatibility mode with Vista SP2 or WinXP Sp3 and still does not work.
I got it to work somehow! I double clicked on
my .wlwbackup file which again caused a crash of the program. But when I then
started wlwbackup it worked! The only other thing which is new is that I
installed DirectX August 2009 edition, but I don't think that has anything to do
with it...

You're not the only one. The only thing I can suggest now is to do a repair
of WLWBackup.
